Jones joined Perseus in August 2025 and became managing director and chief executive in October that year, replacing long-serving leader Jeff Quartermaine. He came from Newcrest Mining, where he sat on the executive team from 2012 until the Newmont takeover and rose to global chief operating officer. His priorities include building the Nyanzaga gold project in Tanzania and the CMA underground mine in Côte d'Ivoire.
