Northam Platinum

A JSE-listed PGM producer founded in 1977 that has grown into a mid-tier miner with its own smelter and base metals removal plant. In August 2026 it disclosed an unsolicited, non-binding approach from another South African PGM producer and opened a competitive process for corporate or asset-level offers.

Northam owns three mines outright: Zondereinde near Thabazimbi in Limpopo, Booysendal across the Limpopo-Mpumalanga border, and Eland near Brits in North West province. In the year to June 2026 own production reached a record 938,754oz 4E, with Booysendal the largest contributor and Eland the fastest-growing.
