Koryx Copper reports bonanza-grade hit at Namibia's Haib project

Koryx Copper released assay results from 15 drill holes totalling 6,825 metres at its wholly owned Haib project in southern Namibia on 9 September 2026, headlined by hole HMRC008, which returned 12 metres grading 2.55% copper equivalent from surface, including 2 metres at 8.01% copper, the highest grade yet recorded at the project. Other notable results included 318 metres at 0.49% copper equivalent in hole HM178 and a 374-metre intercept grading 0.34% copper equivalent from surface in HM158.

Building toward a new study

Haib sits close to the Orange River in Namibia's arid south, near the border with South Africa, and has been explored intermittently for decades without reaching production. Koryx chief executive Heye Daun said the company continues "to receive excellent drill assay results" and expects the forthcoming pre-feasibility study to describe "a significantly optimised and improved project scope" compared with earlier work on the deposit.

Why it matters

Large, low-grade porphyry copper systems like Haib have historically struggled to attract development capital because of thin margins at low copper prices, but sustained high copper prices through 2025 and 2026 have revived interest in exactly this type of large-tonnage deposit. A resource update that captures the newly reported high-grade zones could materially change the project's economics relative to historical estimates based on more limited drilling.

What happens next

Koryx is targeting publication of an updated mineral resource estimate and a pre-feasibility study before the end of 2026, with further assay results from ongoing drilling expected within weeks. Those two releases will be the key tests of whether Haib's improved drill results translate into a materially larger or higher-grade resource than previously modelled.
